Mister Rogers shows a soft kangaroo doll and talks about real kangaroos and what they can do. Captain Kangaroo visits and explains why he is called Captain Kangaroo. Mister Rogers shows him how the trolley works. Mister Rogers talks about growing for both carrots and people. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donkey Hodie is at Someplace Else planting carrot seeds in hopes of having a special treat for Bunny Rabbit and Captain Kangaroo.
Meanwhile, at the Museum-Go-Round, Bunny Rabbit and Captain Kangaroo are welcomed by Lady Elaine Fairchilde who provides very unclear directions to Someplace Else. Donkey Hodie is thrilled to see the visitors but unfortunately his carrots are not growing. Lady Elaine buries some fully grown carrots which helps Donkey Hodie feel good about his effort to do something nice for his friends. Back at the house, Captain Kangaroo departs, and Mister Rogers concludes for the day by showing some carrot seeds and talking about how things grow.
Testing purposes.
Mister Rogers demonstrates blowing bubbles. He visits Mr. Zandhuis, a glass blower, and helps him complete a project for Mrs. Saunders. Mrs. Saunders shows how she will use the balls to teach children about addition and subtraction. Before Mister Rogers leaves, Mr. Zandhuis gives him a small glass crown. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday wants Lady Aberlin to teach subtraction to Prince Tuesday. Mrs. Saunders explains that he has already learned a great deal, but he is too little to learn subtraction. Back at the house, Mister Rogers talks about learning at school and at play.
Mister Rogers makes dough. Using the clay, Mister Rogers pretends that a dancer has come to King Friday’s castle to dance for the newborn prince. The dancer, Ethel Winter, entertains the royal family before Queen Sara excuses herself to go and feed the prince. Before she departs, King Friday requests one more dance from Ms. Winter. In exchange, Ms. Winter asks to meet the others in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Handyman Negri is assigned the task of showing her around the Neighborhood. Ms. Winter demonstrates a new dance for each new person she meets. Back at the house, Jamie Rogers stops by with some pieces of art he has made out of clay. Jamie uses real modeling clay to create a new figure. Jamie and Mister Rogers feed the fish.
